Achieving comfortable living conditions with minimal emissions is a major challenge in the building sector. In this thesis, the heating and cooling demand of buildings and also certain energy efficiency improvements are analyzed through dynamic simulations with Apros simulation software. Dynamic simulation tools are useful when developing new energy efficient solutions for buildings and larger energy systems. Previously, Apros building models have been used mainly to study heating solutions in Finnish buildings and areas. However, the importance of cooling demand is expected to increase in the future mainly due to increased insulation requirements of buildings.
