This Hi-resolution quantitative phase analysis XRD data set was prepared initially at the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) in 1997. Improvements where done through a rerun of the newest version of the QUAX software package (Vogt et al. 2002, doi10.1111/j.1502-3885.2002.tb01058.xsee method description) in 2016 as a prepreparation for a publication on Denmark Strait sediment sources and transport processes. Besides other changes the rerun added information on the content of X-ray amorphous material (mainly volcanic glas). This data set presents the most detailed investigation of mineral assemblage changes of a Polarstern sediment core close to Iceland
