Population aging is a global phenomenon. In Brazil, the increase in the proportion of elderly in the population has been accompanied by changes in the epidemiological profile, which are prevalent noncommunicable chronic diseases, which are the leading causes of morbidity, disability and mortality, especially in the elderly residing in nursing homes.
