This photojournalism shows in detail the theoretical and field research about the problem of cutting of the braid in teenagers Otavalo city. With the aim of showing what factors they become threatening for Indigenous culture or Kichwa Otavalo. The results achieved translate this in a photo-reportage prepared based on the information obtained. In this paper the problem of cutting the braid is posed with the following approaches: Identity and culture, aspects of semiotics, influence of the mass media, the hypodermic needle theory, power of Western culture and its stereotypes and multiculturalism. It takes into account specifically, the traditional dress of Kichwa Otavalo´s culture, family ties and the problem among adolescents. The research...
