This scientific discipline is directed to the relationship of the plant kingdom with human culture who discovers that the plants remain the treasure of indigenous societies and popular tradition of peasant society. In the community of Pichik parish San Lucas conducted research on the ethnobotanical knowledge, Saraguro ethnicity with emphasis on herbal pets, and were included all the plants that are used by community members for the diagnosis and treatment of the various diseases that occur in pets.La etnobotánica estudia las relaciones entre los grupos humanos y su entorno vegetal, es decir el uso y aprovechamiento de las plantas en los diferentes espacios culturales. Esta disciplina científica está dirigida a la relación del reino vegetal con la cultura humana, descubre que las plantas siguen siendo el tesoro de las sociedades indígenas, de la tradición popular y campesina de la sociedad en general. La etnoveterinaria está interrelacionada, unida y/o formando parte de otras medicinas veterinarias naturales, biológicas y tradicionales, no solamente contribuye al mantenimiento y enriquecimiento de la biodiversidad y diversidad cultural de los grupos humanos sino, que también aporta a la seguridad alimentaria de los mismos mediante procedimientos generalmente sustentables y agroecológicos de terapia profilaxis producción y utilización de los animales
