This historical and epistemological work highlights how different systems of psychology, even strongly contrasting with each other, have allowed to investigate mental events from complementary viewpoints, qualitative and quantitative, as well as helped to define and develop a complex and pluralistic scientific discipline from an epistemological point of view.
