In this thesis we study the error-related potential (ErrP) and its possible integration in BCIs (Brain Computer Interfaces). The error-related potential is an evoked potential generated by brain electrical activity when observing an error. Its single-trial detection would allow the integration of control loops in BCIs. However its signal to noise ratio (SNR) is very low making its single-trial detection difficult. In the first part of this thesis we study the different characteristics (temporal, frequential…) of the ErrP. Then from these observations we develop specific filtering methods in order to improve the ErrP SNR and thus improve its single trial detection.
