Can landscape analysis represent a tool for planning and designing multifunctional routes in a rural landscape? Presented here is a reflection about this issue starting from a case study. The method chosen integrates quantitative (maps and data) and qualitative (perceptive and cultural values) analyses. It represents a synthesis of a territorial system (measures) and a landscape system (values). Referring to the Cembra Valley, a rural mountainside area in Province of Trento, this contribution shows the potentiality of using a multi-criteria analysis and of a GIS mapping in designing process
