C/C composites are used as shield for aerospace applications since they display beneficial thermo-mechanical properties at high temperature, as well as high resistance to ablation. Though the macro-scale behavior was thoroughly studied in the past, no model can efficiently tie the properties of the constituents at the meso-scale to the effective macroscopic behavior. In addition, the phenomenological models proposed so far cannot predict a change in the composition.
