This thesis reports a study of collisional ionizing processes involving highly excited rubidium atoms at thermal energy (450 K). In a cell, alkali toms are excited by lasers. Ionization occurs by collision with excited or ground state atoms.Ion analysis gives evidence that the main processes are Penning atomic ionization and Hornbeck Molnar associative ionization according to:Rb(nl) + Rb(5p) -• Rb+ + Rb + e-Rb(nl) + Rb(5s) -* Rb2+ + e-Experimental results agree with theoretical study of the mechanisms.Negative Ions are also observed for various levels.
