When a planar structure is observed from multiple views, the projections of its corresponding 3D points on each image are related by a homography. Its estimation is a key step in many computer vision tasks where either the rigid motion between views or a per-pixel image correspondence is sought. The vast majority of multi-view homography estimation techniques relies on matching a sparse set of point-to-point correspondences to establish a connected graph in the camera network. This track creation step is critical to ensure that the following bundle adjustment can estimate a globally optimal alignment in which the error is diffused coherently on each pairwise homography.
