International audienceOn November 12 th and 13 th , 1999, and September 8 th and 9 th , 2002 two uncommon hydrometeorological events occurred in the Mediterranean part of France (400 mm and more in 24 hours), generating extensive damages (2 billions euros) and loss of human beings (58 dead). These events are a rare opportunity for comparing the flooding areas mapping with those of the hydrogeomorphological boundaries. Indeed the hydrogeomorphological approach is rising up in the engineering field relative to the natural hazards forecast.
