International audienceControlling water adsorption on γ-alumina, i.e. the quantity and nature of the surface hydroxyl groups, is essential to adjust the acido/basic properties of the surface. IR and DFT studies have shown that different OH groups, each of them characterized by its own chemical environment and adsorption properties, can be present on the surface of γ-alumina. However, quantifying this surface heterogeneity and predicting the influence of the synthesis and activation conditions is still a challenging problem.
