Since the reconstitution of the vineyards after phylloxera, the cultivated vines suffered from genetic erosion, caused both by the cultivation of less and less grape varieties, and by the widespread use of few selected clones inside each of them. In order to limit the massive loss of genetic resources, many clonal repositories were established by the French selection partners. They represent Economie potential reserves for future selections. This article focuses on the conservation status of this plant material in France.
