There are different types of periodontal diseases with the common aspect of destructing periodontium. Most of patients are children and one of these diseases is gingival enlargement. Demographic factors like gender and age, socio-economic conditions, inflammatory factors, systemic conditions, medications and many other factors are the etiology of gingival enlargement. Due to physical and emotional complications of this problem, it is felt necessary to evaluate the prevalence of gingival enlargement and etiologic factors affecting it. 1113 girls and boys [7 to 13-year-olds] were selected from 10 primary schools of Gorgan-Iran.
