Cervical cancer which affects a female reproductive organ is one of the most common cancers. There are an estimated 16,000 new cases of invasive cancer of the cervix and 5,000 deaths as a result of this disease, in the United States each year. The prognosis for this disease is markedly affected by the existence of disease at the time of diagnosis. Among the major factors which influence prognosis are the stages, grade of tumor and histology type.
