Travelling Wave Fault Locators (TWFL) allow ahigher precision in most cases than typical impedance basedfault location methods. One of the major problems with it, is themeasurement of the arrival times of Travelling Waves (TWs). Inthis paper, a new method to compute the difference of arrivaltimes of the first wavefront is presented. The method is based onthe telegrapher’s equations. The paper illustrates the algorithmapproach, tested on simulation models. In addition, practicalexperience on the Belgian transmission network is discussed. The different sources of error of the algorithm andinfo:eu-repo/semantics/inPres
