The paper arises out of a series of participatory, performative walking arts experiments, on human rights themes, using geo-located social media/gps mapping and tracking. Online networked activity extends the presence of the walk and generates further resonances around themes and issues raised. The projects experiment with social media and social networking, actively seeking to catalyse articulations of intangible cultural heritage: memories, values, oral traditions, myths. The presentation focuses around the lessons learned from the completed works with regard to public engagement and seeks to generate discussion around tactics and strategies for enhancing networked and face to face participation
