The memoirs provide an account of Harry Salton’s life in Germany and in the US.digitizedHarry Salton was born as Harry David Salazin in 1900 in Hornburg, Saxonia, the son of the Jewish merchant Meier Salazin and his wife Minna, née Bendix. He grew up in Coburg and after fighting in WW I, he studied electric engineering in Darmstadt with the financial help of his uncle, Ludwig Bendix. Salton and his gentile wife Elsa née Karg moved to Berlin, where he worked for AEG. They immigrated to the US in 1935 with an affidavit provided by Ludwig Bendix
