The facultative pathogen Staphylococcus aureus is a threat to general health-care due to the rising prevalence of strains that exhibit resistances towards substances of one or more classes of antibiotics. Rapid and precise diagnostic tests are pivotal to prevent further spread of these bacteria and ensure appropriate treatment of the patients.
