This article revolves around the idea that we are experiencing a profound crisis in our (modern) literacy and suggests that the notion of intermediality might help understand the new literacy developing outside logocentrism. Against a whole philosophical tradition that tries first to understand and name substances and then to grasp their relations, intermediality focuses on relations and understands substances as knots of relations demanding (and allowing) a deep change in the way we think and operate.
