In der vorliegenden Dissertation wird die Chlorgasentwicklung (CER) an einkristallinen Oberflächen von RuO2(110)-Modellelektroden mit elektrochemischen und massenspektrometrischen Methoden untersucht. Die experimentellen Resultate werden mit theoretischen DFT (Dichtefunktionaltheorie)-Rechnungen verknüpft und verglichen. Zur Präparation der Modellelektrode wird auf einem Ru(0001)-Einkristall ein flächendeckendes Oxid mit (110)-Orientierung in einem Sauerstoffstrom unter UHV (Ultrahochvakuum)-Bedingungen aufgewachsen. Die Oberflächenorientierung und die Reinheit des Oxids werden mit Beugungsmethoden (langsame Elektronenbeugung, LEED) bzw. elektrochemischen Methoden (cyclovoltammetrische Messungen) validiert.
