The medieval text The Cormac’s adventure in the Land of Promise contains the « The twelve Truths of kingdom » list. These are twelve ordeals which the author briefly comments. The linking of some of them to mythical characters underlines the will to root their use in the past. Despite this, the christian influence can be felt, and is sometime obvious. We're taking the example of ordeals involving the fire: « The cauldron of truth », the red-hot iron and « Morann's third collar », to show that old usages from the pagan era (and later christianised) and more recent ones (based on ecclesial texts) do co-exist.Le texte médiéval de L’aventure de Cormac dans la terre de la promesse contient la liste des « douze vérités du royaume ».
