Ground coupled heat pump (GCHP) is a promising solution to the problem of efficient heating/cooling of residential and commercial buildings. Long term modelling of borehole heat exchanger (BHE) is necessary for better design and operation of GCHP. The definition of the boundary condition at the borehole wall has been of particular interest in the modelling of BHE. Equal and uniform heat flux at all the borehole walls is the simplest boundary condition that is used in most analytical models and in some numerical models as well.
