Many new grid-connected technologies are becoming available to consumers, such as battery energy storage systems, solar photovoltaic (PV) generation and electric vehicles (EVs). In Queensland, the level of penetration of household PV has already noticeably affected the load profile of the transmission network. As transmission utilities make investment decisions based on long-term forecasts, it is necessary that these emerging customer technologies, which will have a significant impact on their network, are identified.
