A land vehicle mobile satellite communications system is described. The frequencies of operation of Mobilesat are 1545.0-1559.0 MHz (for reception) and 1646.5-1660.5 MHz (for transmission) in the L-band. The system designed for the Australian continent in particular, includes a 14-element cylindrical antenna array based on electronic steering in the azimuth. All of the components including the individual antenna elements, switchable radial power divider/combiners and an open and closed loop satellite tracking system have been fully developed. The measured test results for the L-band antenna system are presented
