Relevance of the problem – cements have to have many optimal features, one of them – resistance to solubility. When cement dissolves, various complications such as anticementation, secondary caries or marginal lekeage can occur. Changes in saliva pH which often happen if the pacient has systemic or oral diseases and can influence the solubility of temporary cements. It is important to find out how the composition of the cement and saliva pH can influence the solubility of temporary cements and to choose the most stable and least soluble temporary cement.
