Influence of Periodontitis Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases

In the last two decades, periodontitis and cardiovascular diseases received considerable attention. It is known that a serious effect on the occurrence of periodontitis has a bacterial infection that works with the body's immune system and the response to inflammation. Periodontitis and cardiovascular diseases have a similar process of development; the microorganisms which are found in periodontal tissues and in vascular atheromas are similar. Recently, there is a question raised, whether treating mild and seriuos periodontitis, the state of cardiovascular diseases improves. Clinical analyzes have shown that individuals who are suffering from periodontitis, suffer from cardiovascular diseases more often, as well, particularly related to the vascular endothelium; individuals who are treated from chronic periodontitis get a positive short-term effect on the vascular structures, their activity and blood biomarkers (CRP, TNF, E-selectin, etc.).
