In Lithuania and all around the world, the number of patients with diabetes is constantly growing. According to International Diabetes Federation (IDF), diabetes takes the fourth place of a diseases that causes death and every year there is nearly 4 million deaths caused by this disease. The number of people and patients is not decreasing. It is estimated that in 2025 there will be 380 million people with diabetes, means that 7.3 percent. of the world's adults [1, 2]. Diabetes is a disease that lasts a lifetime, so is crucial not only to treat patients but also constantly educate them. The education of patient should be an integral part of disease surveillance. It is important for patient to have a good understanding about their disease and how to manage with it, because it is believed that only when the disease is properly supervised and controled, the patient will have less complications. The complications of diabetes or other diseases, and the new attitudes towards treatment may affect the patient's quality of life. R. R. Rubin and M. Peyrot (1999), said that people with diabetes quality of life is worse, however, the duration of diabetes and is not always associated with poor quality of life. Good glycemic control is associated with a better quality of life. Therefore, it is important to provide the necessary information to the patient, train patients so they will remember or acquire new knowledge and skills that will help control the disease and arising complications [4]. Thus, due to the rapidly growing number of patients with diabetes, it is important to find out the importance of diabetes education, the needs of patients and organizing. Following various sources of literature analysis, it was observed that about the diabetes, the complications and the importance of education are written various articles and scientific papers, but little is known about orgazning the education for patients with diabetes. The Aim of the Work: to reveal education organizing for patients with diabetes and opportunities for improvement The Objectives: 1. Expose the theoretical model of education for patients with diabetes 2. Reveal the different subjectives: teachers, experts and patients attitudes towards education organizing for people with diabetes and opportunities for improvement. 3. Compare the teachers, experts and patients' attitudes towards training organizing for patients with diabetes and distinguish opportunities for improvement. Research methology. For this research mixed qualitative and quantitative study were used. The study included nurses - diabetologists, physician and adult patients who had I or II type diabetes (for at least one year and are treated in adult endocrinology section in LSMU Endocrinology clinic). Total 110 research questionnaires were distributed to patients. To ensure representativeness and qualitative data, at least 80 per cent. of patients had to return the questionnaires. Total 92 (83.64%) completed questionnaires returned from patients. SPSS version 14 and Microsoft Excel programs were used for data analysis. For questionnaire survey data analysis statistical methods were used - calculated percentages, absolute numbers and descriptive statistics. To check the statistical hypotheses about dependency and connection strength between the variables were evaluated correlation coefficients. Study results. Respondents disease period and the claim that they have enough knowledge about diabetes and its care was statistically significant. Patients who have diabietes for 11 - 20 years statistically significantly greater (58.1 percent.) believes that they have sufficient knowledge about diabetes, than other patients. Meanwhile, those who have diabetes for 1-10 years and are 21 year old or more think they do not know enough about diabetes and its supervision. Comparing respondents diabetes type and the claim about participation in the initial training of one of the relatives was statistically significant. Patients with type II diabtetes significantly more often claimed that that their relatives did not attend in the diabetes training than patients with Type I diabetes. Respondents' gender and the claim about participation in training was statistically significant. Men statistically significantly more believe that they know everything about dicease. Women (51.3 percent.) participate in training at least 1 time per year as well (53.6 percent.) do not know that such training takes place comparing with men. Respondents' education and a statement that patients need continuous training was statistically significant. It is observed that respondents with high education were significantly more likely (85.4 percent.) to believe that they need regular diabetes training than respondents with secondary and vocational education. Survey findings. Literature analysis revealed people with diabetes training theoretical model. The main stages of diabetes education distinguished: initial, in-depth, ongoing. In patient training major areas were identified: medication, diet and physical activity, complications and their prevention, and diabetes training is provided by nurse - diabetologist, as well as a doctor. Both group (by certain groups of 5-15 people) and individual trainings are led. The survey showed that diabetes training is organized in two phases: initial and ongoing. It is initial counseling (5 Adults are given primary diabetes nurse consulting support services) and continuous counseling (2 adults granted continuing diabetes nurse consulting support services per year per patient). It turned out that the dissemination of information on the diabetes training is very poor and training for adults is not required. Comparing respondents diabetes training needs between the sexes revealed that male respondents have less need for training than female respondents. Comparing the number of participants in diabetes training phases it was observed that the initial counseling training phase involved the largest number of patients. Comparing the specialists involvment in diabetes training services observed that most information for patients provide nurse - diabetologists and physician, and least provides psychologist. Patients with diabetes and specialists opinions were the same- it is the lack of publicity about the ongoing and organized diabetes training and highlighted the need for improvement. In this study patients with diabetes, teachers and experts approach in motivation and desire to learn distinguished. Patients said that they are sufficiently motivated and expressed the need for ongoing training, and teachers and experts think that patients do not have enough motivation to participate in training
