The presence of peoples who inhabited the Kingdoms of the Indies during the Colonial period who were not of Spanish origin has received very little scholarly attention. In the past research was focused on legal and institutional issues. The new research seeks to validate the understanding of the social and cultural aspects of societies in Colonial times in terms of organization and diversity.
