os Cabildos como Laboratorios del Poder y la Política en la Génesis de la República en el suroccidente Neogranadino (1808-1821)

This Work study the transformations of the political attitudes of the town council form the cities of Cali and Popayan which during the years at the beginning of the Independence assumed the defense of the king, the religion and the country, and afterwards in a period of three years- 1808 to 1811- started to modify their inclinations, defining their selves as patriots, totally autonomists. In contrast the City of Pasto, was attached to their fidelity traditions to the colonial pact, respectful to their ancestors honor, was a religion guardian and kept, during all the period, its royal position, being exalted by the supreme colonial authorities, which led to deep their feelings to the point to became the support of the royal army, situation that avoid, during some years the revolution progress and allowed the reorganization of the re conquest of the south being the principal difficulty to the advance of the liberty campaign to Peru.Este trabajo estudia las transformaciones de las actitudes políticas de los cabildos de las ciudades de Cali y Popayán que durante los años iniciales de la Independencia asumieron la defensa del Soberano, de la Religión y la Patria, y que en un lapso de tres años-1808 a 1811- empezaron a modificar sus inclinaciones, llegando a definirse como patriotas totalmente autonomistas. En contraste, la ciudad de Pasto, arraigada en sus tradiciones de fidelidad al pacto colonial, respetuosa del honor de sus ancestros, fue guardiana de la religión y mantuvo durante todo el período su posición realista, siendo exaltada por las supremas autoridades coloniales, lo que contribuyó a profundizar sus sentimientos hasta convertirse en el baluarte de las tropas monarquistas, situación que contuvo durante varios años el avance de la revolución y facilitó la reorganización de la reconquista del sur siendo el principal obstáculo para el avance de la campaña libertadora hacia el Perú
