An overview and critical discussion of the research on the crime prevention effects of camera surveillance. The authors argue that much of extant research is too focused on specific contexts that are hard to generalise to other countries, environments and settings. Previous research has also largely been done within the context of older, analog surveillance systems, which fails to take into account the effects of the shift to digital technologies that have occurred in the past two decades
