Pd, (II) Rahmila Murtiana, S.S., MA.\ud Keywords: Analysis, Figurative Language, Meaning, Theme, Message.\ud The problem formulation of this research are: 1) Kinds of figurative language\ud and meaning are used in the selected poems of Wheeler Wilcox, Thomas Hardy and\ud John Donne’s poem? 2) Theme carried by the poem of Wheeler Wilcox, Thomas\ud Hardy and John Donne’s selected poems? 3) Messages are found in the poems\ud through understanding figurative language used in the selected poems of Wheeler\ud Wilcox , Thomas Hardy and John Donne’s poem?\ud The subject of this research are 5 poems by Wheeler Wilcox, 5 poems by\ud Thomas Hardy, 5 poems by John Donne. The objects of this research are kinds of\ud figurative language, theme and message of the poem.\ud The methodology chose in conducting this research is qualitative method.\ud Data processing in this research is divided into three phases: reading the poems,\ud identifying, understanding.\ud Result of the analysis, revealed that there are 48 figurative language. Those\ud contains methapor 20, simile 2, personification 8, hyperbole 5, symbolism 1,\ud metonymy 1, synecdoche 6, irony 5
