Gender-based violence is a global problem that affects women and girls of all races, colour and creed. This study locates gender-based violence within the development agenda, explores related theories and points out how culture, patriarchy and tradition influences gender-based violence perpetration and can also contribute to positive behavior change. This dissertation provides an analysis of gender-based violence globally, in the Southern African region and in Zimbabwe through secondary and primary research.
