Mujer, ecología y sostenibilidad. Elementos de convergencia entre el ecofeminismo de Vandana Shiva y las enseñanzas sociales de la Iglesia

The thesis makes a comparative study of the thought of Indian ecofeminist Vandana Shiva and the social teachings of the Church on major issues such as women, ecology and sustainability. The aim is to identify the points that both approaches may have in common, which can reveal the existence of common rules present in the creation and human nature. In light of a situation of environmental and economic crisis, Vandana Shiva presents proposals and solutions to socio-environmental problems based on an approach of respect for the rhythms of nature. This practice involves recognizing that the cosmos has inherent meaning. Nature carries a message; there is no such thing as chance or chaos, but rather, there is order, balance, design and therefore laws about how things work and specific meanings. The study shows that Shiva presents reflections and proposals in agreement with the social teachings of the Church, although from different grounds, in areas such as the rights of women and their contribution to taking care of the environment, the possibility of the existence of natural laws that can be recognized by all people regardless of their culture, and how human beings should behave to be sustainable and show their solidarity at the same time. Natural ecology, human ecology and social ecology (integral ecology) may be the ideal scenario for inter-religious and intercultural dialogue, and for revealing the existence of natural laws because everyone on the planet can “read the book of nature”, even though we speak different languages.La tesis lleva a cabo un estudio comparativo entre el pensamiento de la ecofeminista hindú Vandana Shiva y las enseñanzas sociales de la Iglesia en los grandes temas de mujer, ecología y sostenibilidad. El objetivo es mostrar convergencias entre ambos enfoques, que puedan poner de manifiesto la existencia de normas comunes cognoscibles a partir del “libro de la naturaleza” y de la naturaleza humana. Ante una situación de crisis ecológica y económica, Vandana Shiva presenta propuestas y soluciones a los problemas socioambientales desde un planteamiento de respeto a los ritmos de la naturaleza. Esta praxis supone reconocer que en el cosmos hay una razón interna. La naturaleza tiene un mensaje, no hay azar y caos, sino orden, equilibrio, diseño y por tanto leyes de funcionamiento, significados propios. La investigación muestra como Shiva presenta reflexiones convergentes con las enseñanzas sociales de la Iglesia, aunque con una fundamentación diferente, en aspectos como: los derechos de la mujer y su contribución al cuidado del medio ambiente, la posibilidad de que existan unas leyes en la naturaleza, reconocibles por todas las personas independientemente de su cultura y cómo debe ser el comportamiento humano para ser sostenible y solidario al mismo tiempo. La ecología natural, la ecología humana y la ecología social (ecología integral) pueden ser una ocasión idónea para el diálogo interreligioso e intercultural, y para mostrar la existencia de la ley natural, porque todos los habitantes del planeta podemos “leer del libro de la Naturaleza” aunque hablemos lenguas diferentes
