This paper presents the equipments necessary and methodology to convert a common-rail diesel engine to operate in dual fuel mode using compressed natural gas (CNG) as main fuel. A small quantity of diesel pilot fuel act as an ignition source to initiate the combustion. The conversion system was developed to reduce diesel consumption by manipulating and emulating signal from the common rail pressure sensor without major modification to the engine. The vehicle need to be inspected by several organizations after the conversion process to ensure that the vehicle is safely used on the road by the consumer.
