Tracking the evolution of wounds, ulcers or bedscars is one of the important tasks of the care personnel in medical institutions. We present an innovative, smartphone-based software application aimed at supporting this task. By using a standardized protocol complemented by image processing techniques, the application allows for the reliable acquisition of wound photographs, the assessment of wounds evolution, as well as for the annotation of photographs with relevant metadata. We detail the user-centered, scenario-based design process of this application that has been undertaken in the Connected Health Lab (CHL), our state-of-the-art usability lab dedicated to e-Health applications
