The Governor is vested by the Constitution with the supreme executive power of the State and is responsible to ensure that the executive functions of state government are carried out according to Iowa laws. The Governor has direct financial supervision over all state departments and annually initiates, prepares and submits a balanced budget for all revenues and expenditures.
