Intercultural education through art

With a view to the development of intercultural educational practice, the article explores the connection between art and education through reference to such contemporary social thinkers as John Dewey, Herbert Read and Joseph Beuys. Seeing an artist in each and every man, the author looks into the possibilities of art in facilitating social relations in a multicultural society, namely its potential for raising intercultural sensitivity, communication and cooperation. Resorting to some examples of educational and/or artistic endeavors, she especially encourages actions in open public spaces, which prove to have a much wider social impact than, for example, extracurricular workshops.Uniwersytet w Białymstok
