This communication consists of a study of a series of adolescents who were referred to the psychiatric hospital on account of a schizophrenic illness. All patients under the age of eighteen who were admitted for the first time to Mount Carmel Hospital between 1965 and 1974, and who were given a diagnosis of schizophrenia by their respective consultant psychiatrists, were included in this study. Variants like schizo-affective psychosis were included.peer-reviewe
