Tatiana Alybina is a PhD candidate at the Department of Ethnology, University of Tartu. Her fields of interests are indigenous spiritual traditions in Russia and Eastern Europe-, folklore and spiritual culture of Finno-Ugric peoples-, ethnic identity in the context of globalisation.Vernacular religion connected with the clan was expected to adapt in the context of globalisation and the vanishing ideals of traditional (tribal) societies. But at the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries a revival of European ‘paganism’ has appeared.
