A novel form of adjustable hydrodynamic bearing has been devised. The adjustment capability confers operating characteristics that can be of benefit in a variety of applications. The bearing has been subject to detailed analysis and computer modelling. Tests on practical versions have confirmed the improved performance for bearings of a range of sizes
