This chapter investigates claims that recent DNA studies have established that the Etruscans were migrants to Italy as suggested by Herodotus. The history of DNA sudies related to the Etuscans is reviewed and the recent claims are rejected although it has been established that DNA likely originating in South West Asia is found in Tuscan individuals. The possibilities of associating DNA with cultural identity are also explored
