This book critically evaluates the relevance and implications of globalisation in relation to both the academic study of social policy and social welfare provision. It: examines the implications of globalisation for social policy analysis and provision; analyses how social policies and politics contribute to and shape globalising strategiees; argues that the degree to which globalisation gives rise to systematic changes in the funding, regulation and provision of welfare has been over-estimated; demonstrates that national and local forces remain decisive in understanding the development of social policy
