AbstractAppendicitis in a femoral hernia is a rare occurrence often diagnosed intraoperatively. We present a case where the incarcerated appendicitis required division of the inguinal ligament for reduction. Appendectomy was carried out and because of contamination a primary McVay procedure was done to repair the femoral hernia. The patient tolerated the surgery and was discharged shortly
