BackgroundValvular heart disease is associated with left ventricular hypertrophy, remodeling and development of diffuse interstitial fibrosis. So far, histopathology remains the gold standard for evaluating diffuse myocardial fibrosis. Gadolinium enhanced Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) T1 mapping is new method which allows to quantify the myocardial extracellular volume (ECV).
