AbstractHigh performance hydrostatic bearing are increasingly in demand in ultra-precision machine tools. To calculate the static performance of hydrostatic bearing more accurately, a fluid-structure interaction model is proposed. The temperature rise and pressure distribution are calculated by computational fluid dynamics (CFD), the influence of which on structure deformation is analyzed by finite element method (FEM). Based on the FEM simulation results, the static stiffness of hydrostatic bearing is theoretically calculated. Compared with the result from empirical equations without influence of temperature rise and pressure distribution, the static stiffness drops about 78%.
