AbstractThe present work describes the use of the combination of optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and micro-Raman spectroscopy for the identification of pigments in art works containing both organic and inorganic supports. Two kind of art works have been selected: ecclesiastical bulls (from the end of the XV century — beginning of the XVI century) and gilded copper enamelled candelabra from the XIII century. The pigments used in writing inks from organic supports and from polychrome enamels in inorganic supports have been determined
