AbstractLung function decline is a well-recognized occurrence after myeloablative hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT) that has not been studied after nonmyeloablative conditioning regimens. We examined the lung function of patients before and after 2-Gy total body irradiation-based nonmyeloablative and myeloablative preparative regimens. Before HCT, at day 100, and 1 year after HCT, nonmyeloablative patients had lower 1-second forced expiratory volume (FEV1), forced vital capacity, total lung capacity, residual volume, and carbon monoxide diffusion capacity.
