AbstractBackgroundWe have previously shown that cell death is a pathophysiologic consequence of ischemia-reperfusion and that interleukin-10 gene therapy improves the function of transplanted lungs. Interleukin-10 downregulates the inflammatory response and can inhibit apoptosis.
